Introducing Gilbert Secatero

Gilbert Secatero is a proud member of the Navajo tribe from the Torreon reservation, now living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Having recently graduated from Highland High School in August 2024, Gilbert’s journey is one deeply rooted in his Native American heritage, which continues to influence his life and ambitions.

Living in Albuquerque, a vibrant and diverse city, Gilbert has faced unique challenges as a Native American. Yet, he remains dedicated to maintaining a strong connection with his cultural roots while navigating life in a metropolitan environment. His commitment to education is evident in his goal to maintain a 3.0 GPA at the University of New Mexico, where he plans to participate in the honors college to further challenge himself academically.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Gilbert is actively involved in several student organizations. His participation in programs such as the "AISS Ambassador" program, "Native American Studies," "Dine Language and Culture Club," the "Pre-medical Society," and the "Student Nurse Associations" showcases his dedication to both personal and professional growth. These experiences not only enrich his life but also prepare him for future endeavors.

A Deeply Personal Connection to Jewelry Making

Gilbert’s passion for jewelry making is something that runs in the family. His father has been a significant influence, passing down the knowledge and skills of this artistic discipline.
