Trinidad Lucas — Hopi Silversmith
Trinidad Lucas works in overlay across bracelets, pendants and buckles, and makes figural pieces, in the summary of Bille Hougart's Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks (Hougart 2022, p. 201), which lists her as Hopi and active since the 1980s.
Margaret Nickelson Wright's Hopi Silver, a register of Hopi smiths and their hallmarks, records that she learned from Glenn Lucas and began silverwork at Mishongnovi in 1982 (Wright 2003, p. 94). A pendant she made in 1992 appears in Theda Bassman's The Beauty of Hopi Jewelry (Bassman 1993, p. 35).
Her hallmark
Hougart describes her mark as "T L d", with the d set inside the L, and notes that the mark "may be inside a bear symbol" (Hougart 2022, p. 201). Wright lists her among the smiths who mark with initials (Wright 2003, p. 123).
