Overview
Silviano Quintana (1913–2003) was a Cochiti Pueblo silversmith working in a classic, hand-wrought style — bolos and buckles. He was a silversmith at Southwest Arts & Crafts in the late 1930s and a 1954 New Mexico State Fair award winner.
The corpus places him as a neighbor of Joe H. Quintana at Cochiti Pueblo — a neighbor, note, not a documented relative; Hougart states no family relation between them, nor to other Quintana silversmiths. His marks: an initial stamp our scan prints as 'SO' (given his initials this may be a scan artifact of 'SQ' — treat the letterform with care), plus 'Silviano Quintana' and 'Silviano' in etched script.
