Peter Nelson told Jacka (1995, p. 73) that he discovered his domed shadowbox style by mistake, when a piece he was hammering for overlay rose too much and he decided he liked it. [1]

Schaaf (2003, p. 244) recorded Peter Nelson as Navajo, active from about 1977 in contemporary silver and gold, overlay with stones and shadowbox jewelry, educated at the Institute of American Indian Arts, related to Howard, David and Mildred Nelson, with Best of Show at the Museum of Northern Arizona's Navajo Show in 1996. [2]
