Pascal Nuvamsa — Hopi Silversmith
Pascal Nuvamsa's pieces from 1992 include a necklace with a village scene and a bracelet in 14-carat gold on silver, both photographed for Theda Bassman's The Beauty of Hopi Jewelry (Bassman 1993, pp. 18, 51).
He learned at the Guild and began silverwork at Shungopavi in 1987, according to Margaret Nickelson Wright's Hopi Silver, a register of Hopi smiths and their hallmarks, (Wright 2003, p. 98). Bille Hougart's Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks lists him as Hopi, working in overlay and active since the 1980s, and gives the name he also signs with, Kuwanhongva (Hougart 2022, p. 231).
His hallmark
Wright labels his mark "Flute Player" (Wright 2003, p. 98). Hougart lists two marks: "A flute player; Kuwanhongva (script)" (Hougart 2022, p. 231).
