Ned Nez — Navajo Silversmith
Ned Nez works in stamp work. Bille Hougart's Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks lists him as "Ned Nez (1959-; Navajo)" and describes his work as "Stamp work; large cabochons" (Hougart 2022, p. 228).
Theda Bassman's The Beauty of Navajo Jewelry shows a stampwork ring of his set with Kingman turquoise (Bassman 1997, p. 39), and Nancy N. Schiffer's Turquoise Jewelry shows a silver buckle of his with a small turquoise stone, from about the 1980s (Schiffer 2008, p. 51).
His hallmark
Hougart gives his mark as "N. NEZ" (Hougart 2022, p. 228). Nathanial Nez, listed directly above him, is a different smith who marks "N & R" (Hougart 2022, p. 228).
