Schaaf's 2003 hallmark index lists the initials JMB under his name:
“JMB (Johnnie Mike Begay)”
— Schaaf (2003), p. 65 [1]
According to Schaaf (2003, p. 76), Johnny Mike Begay stamped JMB in combined letters, sometimes inside a fringed box. Schaaf recorded him as a Navajo silversmith active until 1976 and deceased by 2003, who had lived at Houck, Arizona, worked with Dean Kirk, John Kennedy and White Hogan, made bracelets, watch bands, flat work and boxes, and won second and third prizes at the 1976 Indian Market in Santa Fe.
