Gracilda Saufkie — Hopi Silversmith Hallmark
Gracilda Saufkie learned silversmithing from Lawrence Saufkie. Margaret Nickelson Wright's Hopi Silver, a register of Hopi smiths and their hallmarks, records her as a member of the Fog clan from Shungopavi who began silverwork in 1964 and was still working when her list was compiled (Wright 2003, p. 82).
Her hallmark
Wright prints two dated marks for her, labelled "Snow Cloud 1965" and "Snow Cloud 1972," and notes that she broke her first mark in 1971 and used the new one from 1972. The printed drawings show a tall pointed arch with an inner V line above three small upright rectangles, and a stepped block on a bar over two downward-pointing triangles flanking a central rectangle (Wright 2003, p. 82).
