Fernanda Lomayestewa — Hopi Silversmith
Fernanda Lomayestewa began silverwork at Shungopavi in 1980, and Margaret Nickelson Wright's Hopi Silver, a register of Hopi smiths and their hallmarks records that she "Learned at the Guild" (Wright 2003, p. 94).
A pair of her earrings made in 1992 appears in Theda Bassman's The Beauty of Hopi Jewelry (Bassman 1993, p. 37). Bille Hougart's Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks lists her as "Fernanda Lomayestewa (Hopi)," working in overlay and active since the 1980s (Hougart 2022, p. 194).
Her hallmark
Wright labels her mark "Sun" (Wright 2003, p. 94). Hougart gives it as "A sun" (Hougart 2022, p. 194).
