Edward Nequatewa — Hopi Silversmith
Edward Nequatewa learned at the Guild and began silverwork at Shungopavi in 1987, according to Margaret Nickelson Wright's Hopi Silver, a register of Hopi smiths and their hallmarks (Wright 2003, p. 98).
Bille Hougart's Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks lists him as "Edward Nequatewa (?-1991; Hopi)," working in overlay and active from the 1980s until his death in 1991 (Hougart 2022, p. 225). Wright gives the same year (Wright 2003, p. 98).
His hallmark
Wright labels his mark "Sun's Forehead" (Wright 2003, p. 98). Hougart gives it as "E H (below a Sun's forehead)" (Hougart 2022, p. 225). Jack Nequatewa's mark is also labelled "Sun's Forehead" (Wright 2003, p. 100); the letters E H mark Edward's.
