Dickie Charlie — Zuni Silversmith
Dickie Charlie is a Zuni silversmith in cluster and cast work, trained inside his wife's family. Gregory Schaaf's American Indian Jewelry I lists him as Zuni, born 1956, active from 1974, and names his teachers as Lee and Mary Weebothee, his wife's parents (Schaaf 2003, p. 110).
Schaaf records his forms as bracelets, earrings, necklaces, pendants, pins and rings in silver, coral and turquoise, his favorite designs as the crescent moon, flowers and leaves, and an award at the Inter-tribal Indian Ceremonial in Gallup (Schaaf 2003, p. 110). Bille Hougart's Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks describes his work as intricate silver work and lapidary, with cast work, and records that he shares his stamp with his wife, Darlene (Hougart 2022, p. 82).
His hallmark
Hougart gives the mark as D / D C (Hougart 2022, p. 82); Schaaf records the same stamps, D and DC (Schaaf 2003, p. 110).
