Darryl Dean Begay - Navajo Silversmith

Darryl Dean Begay is a Navajo jewelry silversmith and a renowned master of the tufa casting technique. Darryl has been silversmithing for 16 years and has won many awards and accolades. In 2009, Darryl and his wife Rebecca jointly won the coveted “Best in Show” at the 88th annual Santa Fe Indian Market. They currently reside in Gallup, NM.

Darryl has a strong connection to his Navajo roots and culture. He was taught the craft of silversmithing and tufa casting by his uncle, Bobby Begay. He uses traditional Navajo and Christian motifs in his tufa cast designs. Darryl is well known for using very high-quality turquoise and sugilite stones, as well as incredible salmon coral. He is also very active in the Native American jewelry community.
